Areas of Expertise

Melissa is an Associate in our Housing Management & Property Litigation team.

Melissa has predominantly acted for private individuals as well as corporate bodies to advise on all aspects of their legal duties and in resolving their disputes.

Her work includes, but not limited to, the following:

  • Private Landlord and Tenant disputes;
  • Possession proceedings and claims against trespassers;
  • Trust of land disputes;
  • Money claims / debt action;
  • Lease extension and enfranchisement;
  • Breach of lease / covenants;
  • Adverse possession claims;
  • Advising clients in relation to fire safety obligations and completing necessary statutory documentation on behalf of clients.

Experience

Prior to joining Devonshires, Melissa worked at a full-service law firm, where she obtained her training contract and qualified into the Dispute Resolution department. Melissa’s work covered a broad range of disputes as well as non-contentious property related transactions.


Personal

Melissa enjoys travelling and exploring new cultures and traditions. She is currently learning a new language.

Notable Cases

Successfully settling financial disputes between a parent and child in the sum of £20,000 and between siblings in the sum of circa £60,000.

Successfully obtaining a mandatory possession order against private tenants, which involved an application being made to transfer the proceedings up to the High Court.
