Areas of Expertise

Jonathan advises landlords on a wide range of housing management issues including anti-social behaviour, tenancy fraud, succession and housing conditions claims. He also regularly advises on access issues linked to hoarding, gas safety checks, electrical checks and the completion of repairs in properties.

Jonathan also delivers a vast amount of advice on other matters including the drafting of policies and procedures, tenancy agreements and complaint responses.


Experience

Jonathan has over a decade’s worth of housing law experience. He trained as a solicitor in a Private Registered Provider and he has also worked for the Government Legal Department advising the Government on a wide range of policy issues. More recently he was a Private Registered Provider’s Principal Solicitor.

Jonathan is also an award-winning lawyer who has significant board level experience in the housing and charity sector.

Notable Cases

Obtained possession of a property against a tenant who engaged in significant anti-social behaviour, which was causing distress to neighbouring residents.

Obtained a possession order against a tenant who unlawfully sublet their property. The tenant was also ordered to pay costs and repay the unlawful profits that they had made from subletting the property.

Obtained an injunction order preventing a tenant’s son from visiting a block of flats because he was engaging in a vast amount of anti-social behaviour including accessing the block of flats without permission and using the property for what was believed to be criminal activity.
