Donna McCarthy is named our new Head of Housing Management and Property Litigation.
Donna takes over from Nick Billingham, who headed up the team for more than 20 years, ahead of his retirement in April next year.
Donna joined the firm 22 years ago as a Chartered Legal Executive and was Devonshires’ first Legal Executive Partner when she was appointed in 2011. She acts for social and private landlords as well as care and support providers in complex litigation, including possession proceedings; actions to restrain anti-social behaviour; injunctions and disrepair actions.
Donna’s expertise in complex dispute resolution, both in and out of court, sits alongside her extensive experience in advising on non-contentious policy and procedure in addition to regulatory matters. She has particular specialism advising on mental health, safeguarding and capacity issues.
Donna said: “Nick has built a fantastic 36-strong team as head of the Housing Management and Property Litigation team and it is an honour to take over from him ahead of his retirement. I am looking forward to the next chapter of my career with Devonshires and helping to grow the team further.”
Nick Billingham said: “I have led the Housing Management and Property Litigation Team for over 20 years now, so it is about time I gave someone else a look-in! Donna is a fantastic leader and motivator as well as a brilliant housing lawyer – I can’t think of a better person to take over from me. She will make great strides and take the team to another level I am sure.”
