The coronavirus pandemic has led to more reinsurance disputes needing resolution. With no readily available playbook to direct how such disputes are to be answered, the market is gravitating towards lawyers again.

The Court of Appeal last week dismissed an appeal against a suspended custodial sentence made by a resident who had been found to have breached an Injunction which prohibited him using racist, offensive or abusive language or gestures against his neighbour or any member of her family and from intimidating or attempting to intimate the neighbour or member of her family.  The breach was proven via CCTV.

The Government announced on 16 June 2021 that the existing moratorium on forfeiture of leases which was due to expire on 30 June 2021 will be extended until 25 March 2022.

It was confirmed in The Queen’s Speech on 11th May that the government will introduce a Leasehold Reform (Ground Rent) Bill to ensure that “leaseholders of new, long residential leases cannot be charged a financial ground rent for no tangible service”.

The Government has announced that, from 1 June 2021, notice periods for possession in respect of residential tenancies will change again.
