Congratulations to Martin Arnold, champions of the 2017 Devonshires 5-a-side football tournament.
On Thursday 19 October 2017 we hosted the Devonshires 5-a-side football tournament; 9 teams from Devonshires, Home Group, L&Q, Martin Arnold, Poplar HARCA, Thames Valley Housing Association and Wandle Housing Association fought out a closely contested group stage. Which saw Devonshires Orange, Martin Arnold, Poplar HARCA and Wandle 2 progress to the semi-finals.
Martin Arnold edged out Wandle 2, whilst Devonshires Orange held their nerve to see off Poplar HARCA in a sudden death penalty shoot-out. The final was a cagey affair with the two highest-scoring teams of the tournament playing out a 1-1 draw.
Penalties again saw Martin Arnold take home the trophy. Billy Bennett from Martin Arnold was awarded player of the tournament by the referees after 3 man of the match performances in their 6 games.
Over £250 was raised for Devonshires’ supported charities which will be matched by the Devonshires Foundation.
