Building owners across the country are currently faced with the daunting prospect of remediation costs for defective buildings.

This session will provide an introduction to the recovery of those remediation costs through a number of routes, including contractual claims, insurance claims via latent defects policies, along with claims under the Defective Premises Act 1972 and the Building Safety Act 2022.

The session will also cover claims that landlords may face from residents due to defective buildings, along with ways to mitigate that risk.

Zoe McLean-Wells, Partner, Housing Management & Property Litigation

Zoe advises on all aspects of housing management and practice including all aspects of leasehold, possession proceedings, injunctions, enfranchisement, forfeiture, service charge issues, Tribunal proceedings and lease interpretation. She has a particular interest in fire and building safety related matters.

Yaasica is an Associate in the Construction, Engineering & Procurement team advising on both contentious and non-contentious matters. Yaasica acts on a broad range of construction and engineering disputes, including those relating to building defects, fire damage and payment disputes, and represents clients in the Technology and Construction Court and in adjudications.
