Victoria Smith, Solicitor, Devonshires
Vicky act for landlords in both England and Wales, advising on a wide range of housing matters.
Vicky has expertise on the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016, advising on changes introduced by the Act and what they mean for landlords. Vicky specialises in disrepair, fitness for human habitation and EPA claims. She also advises landlords in relation to Housing Ombudsman matters, to include updating and drafting policies and procedures.
Dr Yoric Irving-clarke, Policy Manager, Midland Heart
Yoric is External Affairs Manager for Midland Heart, one of the largest social landlords in the Midlands. He has worked in homelessness and social housing for around 25 years. A key part of his role at Midland Heart is supporting the APPG on Anti-Social Behaviour, of which they are the sponsor. The group concluded its first inquiry in 2023, publishing a well received report that has been cited in the House of Commons on several occasions. The group also held well attended fringe sessions at both main party conferences. Yoric holds a PhD in social policy and is the author of three books on the history of supported housing policy in England, housing policy and domestic abuse (with Dr Kelly Henderson), and the application of political philosophy to housing policy and related issues; all three are published by Routledge
Tom Nevitt, Head of Strategy, Resolve
Tom has spent most of his career working with HM Government, colleagues in the civil service and national organisations to tackle issues that negatively impact on communities and society as a whole. For the last 3 years Tom has led on the UK’s national ASB Awareness Week and Resolve’s national data collection work, which helps to shape national policy and legislation around community safety and informs the direction of travel for the sector.
